DANGEROUS: Steve Simon is a defund the police Radical

Simon supports defunding the police responsible for keeping our communities and schools safe, and allowing businesses to thrive. (Planned Parenthood)

Businesses have fled downtown Minneapolis since crime skyrocketed. Contributing to the exodus was “the idea that the police department could be dismantled.” (CBS 8/5/2020)

“The mention of no police department has deterred business owners,” CBS reported.

Local business owners said they decided to leave after losing trust in public officials during the riots. “They don’t care about my business … They didn’t protect our people. We were all on our own.” (Fox Business 10/10/2020)

LAWLESS: Steve Simon ATTEMPTED TO BREAK THE LAW & FAILED TO PROTECT ELECTION INTEGRITY—EVEN A MINNESOTA COURT SAID HE WOULD CAUSE “IRREPARABLE HARM”

Simon is not a serious candidate to oversee secure, transparent, accountable elections all Minnesota voters can trust, supports making it easier to vote but not making it harder to cheat.

“IRREPARABLE HARM”: According to the Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, “The Secretary’s plan to count mail-in ballots received after the deadline established by the Minnesota Legislature will inflict irreparable harm on the Electors.” (Carson v. Simon, 10/29/2020)

Simon attempted to unilaterally re-write Minnesota election law for partisan gain, in violation of the state’s election day law, a scheme which risked depriving millions of Minnesota voters the right to vote. (Honest Elections Project)

Simon’s attempt was halted by the court as being unlawful and unconstitutional, ruling that “The Secretary (Simon) has no power to override the Minnesota Legislature” and that the “legislature’s power in this area is such that it ‘cannot be taken from them or modified.’” (Carson v. Simon, 10/29/2020)

EMBARRISING: Business creation suffered under Steve Simon

Under Simon, Minnesota is not in the top-10 best states for entrepreneurs and job creators to start a business. (American Experiment, 8/23/2022)

Minnesota does not do so well when it comes to business creation itself, ranking “14th lowest among the states on business creation…Other states, like Washington, Florida, and even California do a better job of creating new businesses.”

The Economic Freedom of North American Index, a study which analyzes performance on numerous metrics that affect business operations, gave Minnesota a “least free” ranking as the 38th freest state in the United States in 2021. (Fraser Institute, 2021)

When it comes to regulation that specifically affects entrepreneurship, Minnesota ranked 22nd in 2021. (CATO Institute, 5/5/2021)

Minnesota also ranked 38th on Cato’s “Freedom in the 50 States” index analyzing how the state’s policies impact personal and economic freedom. (CATO Institute, 2021)

CORRUPT: STEVE SIMON HANDED OVER MINNESOTA ELECTIONS TO CORPORATE BILLIONAIRES & BIG TECH COMPANIES

The corrupting influence of corporate billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg manipulates the official voting apparatus and should have no place in Minnesota elections.

Simon was the state’s chief elections officer presiding in 2020 when the campaign financing scheme, known as “Zuckerbucks,” after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, successfully funneled private and potentially foreign money into local election offices, diluting the voice and votes of ordinary Minnesotans.

Simon allowed more than $7 million to be successfully funneled into Minnesota local election offices by Silicon Valley tech executives and corporate billionaires like Zuckerberg in a campaign financing scheme designed to manipulate voter turnout. (Capital Research Center, 1/21/2022)

Will help make Minnesota a business-friendly state that drives the economic engine of prosperity and opportunity for all.

Believes it should be easy to vote and hard to cheat in Minnesota elections and will work with the legislature to pass fundamental reforms protecting ballot security and the votes of all eligible voters.

Will combat corruption by working to halt the campaign financing scheme, known as “Zuckerbucks” after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, used by billionaires to funnel private and potentially foreign money into local election offices.
